... You are not allowed to have a smartphone with you when sitting an exam?

You may not have a smartphone, smartwatch, tablet computer or similar with you when sitting an exam. These are ’unauthorised aids’. Whether on On/Off mode, they are not allowed. If you have a smartphone with you when sitting an exam you can be suspended. Do the smart thing and do not have any of these items with you when sitting an exam.

Negligence, stress and a lack of knowledge about how source material should be used might lead to a student to copy or plagiarise material in reports and essays. None of them however are valid reasons when the matter goes in front of the disciplinary board in a case.
